"Stand therfore, having your loins girt about with truth". Ephesians 6:14 KJV
The first thing that you must do to "put on the whole armour of God" is to come to the Truth, which is Jesus Christ. You must come to know and believe in Christ and his teachings.

Truth is symbolized by "having your loins girt about with truth". Girt referred in Christ's time to putting on a girdle or which now is known as a belt. It is the one piece of equipment listed that other items were attached to, such as the sword scabbard and sword. The belt went around the soldiers waist, or most inward part. In Psalms 51:6 KJV it says, "Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts, and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom." From this you can see that your inward parts should be surrounded about with truth, truth from the Word of God.
